The Atonement of Jesus Christ

Life has a way of throwing unexpected trials our way, trials that we never imagined would be ours to face in this life. For many, divorce is one of those heartbreaking realities. It can leave a person feeling lost, broken, and questioning what the future holds. But no matter how painful the experience is, there is hope. The Atonement of Jesus Christ is more than just a way to overcome sin, it is the ultimate source of healing, strength, and renewal.

Elder Jefferey R. Holland once said, “However late you think you are, however many chances you think you have missed, however many mistakes you feel you have made… you have not traveled beyond the reach of divine love.” In moments of deep sorrow, it’s easy to feel like healing is out of reach. But Christ’s love extends to the brokenhearted, offering peace even in the most unexpected trials.

President Russell M. Nelson also reminded us, “When you reach up for the Lord’s power in your life with the same intensity that a drowning person has when grasping and gasping for air, power from Jesus Christ will be yours.” Healing doesn’t always come instantly, but as we turn to Him daily through prayer, fasting, scripture study, and priesthood blessings, His strength becomes our own.

One of the most powerful sources of personal revelation is a patriarchal blessing. These sacred words provide guidance and reassurance, helping us see our lives from an eternal perspective. Journaling can also be a way to process emotions, recognize personal growth, and see the Lord’s hand in our lives. When life feels overwhelming, writing down tender mercies and moments of peace can remind us that God is always nearby.

Healing after a trial isn’t easy, but it is possible. Christ’s Atonement makes it possible. As we draw near Him, He transforms heartache into hope and despair into resilience. No trial is beyond His reach, and no soul is ever too lost for His love to restore.
